With our data in the cloud, we can process it using computing options available on the cloud. A Template of a desired computing system is defined. An Instance of that Template is then created for use.

Templates are definitions of systems in terms of Cloud Type, Zone, Machine Type and Image. Once a template is saved, it can be used to create machines of that specification when they are needed.
An instance is an implementation of a Template definition – a system that is created based on the specifications of the Template. Since systems are composed of computing, storage and network, Instances are associated with a Disk used for data Storage and also a with a Security Group to control network access to the system.
